As part of this outsourcing deal, three new freezer factories were built under the management of Siemens in partnership with Heste. By 2005 China was importing 50% more refrigerators than it had been ten years earlier.

In 2006, Siemens sold its 20% stake in Heste to Bosch for $87 million and cited reasons of operational efficiency. Bosch in turn acquired a 51% stake. In the same year however, Heste reported that it was making use of another OEM partner to manufacture its refrigerators.

This partner was LG Electronics Ltd., which had assisted Heste in building an automated production line for fridges that helped reduce the manufacturing cost per piece to $220 from the previous cost of $280. The line manufactured 17 000 refrigerators daily while employing only 600 workers.
